Three expressions of cumulative caries experience: DMFT, DMFS and SR, were assessed for 801 children, aged 5 to 14 years, resident in the predominantly non‐fluoridated Orana and Far West Health Region of New South Wales. The results indicate a decreasing trend of caries which is attributed to an intensive preventive programme and is in accord with world‐wide trends reported from several developed countries.
