A bstract — A method of analysis of the face is presented incorporating a projected grid with bilateral illumination. The subject is positioned using the natural head position. A mirror is used in front of the camera to establish the visual axis and the subject is then supported in this position using a specially designed head stabilizer. The mirror is then swung away and a photograph taken: a contour photograph results. This may then be used to quantify facial morphology in three dimensions.
