A bstract — In Busselton, Western Australia, 89 per cent of the adult population received a dental examination in 1969. In 1978, 75 per cent of people under age 40 were examined. Comparison between the two survey groups shows increased retention of natural teeth and decrease in denture wearing. The most prevalent treatment need was for calculus removal and oral hygiene instruction.
