A bstract There have been many changes in the provision of dental care in South Australia since about 1970. A comprehensive questionnaire returned by 58 full time general practitioners working in 71 practices revealed that most of the dentists worked a relatively short week and working year. There was evidence of decreased workloads shown by relatively few treatment items being needed for patients, and treatments being completed within a short time.
