A bstract A simple, robust and relatively inexpensive mechanical digitizer is described which has applications for researchers involved in converting graphical data to digital form. The use of a programmable calculator to re‐orientate landmarks to a standardized baseline is also described. Double determination of a series of points showed the apparatus to have a high degree of precision and accuracy.
