A bstract — Histological examination of 18 erupted and eight unerupted teeth with idiopathic external resorption demonstrated that 21 teeth showed metaplastic hard tissue repair in some teeth up to about 69 per cent of the resorbed dentinal surface. The significance is discussed of osteoblasts and mononuclear cells.
