A bstract — A review of studies on the microleakage, retention, durability, and cariostatic efficacy of BIS‐GMA resin fissure sealants suggests that newly‐erupted permanent molars benefit least but the benefit for premolars is consistently high. Problems arising in the assessment of the sealants in clinical trials are discussed.
