A bstract — Because a percentage of undergraduate students in their clinical years were dissatisfied or undecided with their career choice, a first‐year elective subject was introduced to increase their socio‐dental awareness at the earliest opportunity. The course content, student reaction over a four‐year period, and a profile of the attitudes and aspirations of first‐year students are described.
