A bstract — A method based on a survey of 336 children is described for making measurements of occlusions and converting the results into a form which permits an assessment of the community's need for orthodontic treatment. Measurements of the incisal overjet and crowding are used to produce a score related to the severity of the malocclusion, and the results suggest further investigation is warranted.
