A bstract — Electrical stimuli applied to the skin over the temporomandibular joint in 25 normal subjects caused reactions from simple muscle twitching to the eliciting of pain. Later complaints included muscle tiredness, decreased or increased salivation and pain around the angle of the mandible. Tests on one normal subject with a pacemaker over the heart area indicated possible dangers in using the instrument with cardiac patients.
