Often coexisting in developing countries with under‐nutrition, obesity is a complex condition, with serious medical, social, psychological and economic implications 1 . This has led to the dual burden of fighting against both under and over‐nutrition. It is widely recognized today that bariatric surgery is the only safe and effective approach to treatment of morbid obesity 5 .
