The cultivated and indigenous taxa of Sterculiaceae in Egypt are systematically revised. This revealed the presence of 15 species, belonging to 10 genera, accepted as cultivated taxa and 6 indigenous species, belonging to 4 genera, restricted to the southeastern corner of Egypt; of which Melhania steudneri Schweinf. is a new record to the flora of Egypt. For the investigated taxa valid name, synonyms, types, general distribution and representative specimens are given. Identification keys for the determination of all genera and species are also provided.
