Agouticarpa spinosa C. Persson & Delprete, a new species of the Alibertia group (Rubiaceae–Gardenieae) endemic to northern Peru, is described and illustrated. It is primarily distinguished from other Agouticarpa species by having thorns and single‐flowered male inflorescences.
