Twenty six species of Zingiber have been found in Thailand. Six new species are described, Z. longibracteatum, Z. peninsulare, Z. villosum, Z. flavovirens, Z. larsenii and Z. newmanii . Four species and one variety have been recorded in Thailand for the first time, namely Z barbatum, Z. aff. integrum, Z. petiolatum, Z.wrayi and Z. puberulum var. ovoideum . A key to the species is provided, as well as species descriptions, distribution and specimen citations. The taxa have been typified as far as possible. Undoubtedly more species of Zingiber remain to be described from Thailand.
