Silene ichnusae (Caryophyllaceae) a new species of S. sect. Siphonomoipha is described and illustrated. It is a rare chasmophyte localized at Capo Falcone (W Sardinia), on siliceous rocks near the sea. Its relationships with S. velutina, of the S. mollissima group, are discussed.
