Trechispora farinacea (Corticiaceae, Basidiomycotina) is currently interpreted as a widespread and morphologically variable taxon. Type collections of four species names, by various authors proposed as synonyms, were studied. They were all found to represent species different from T. farinacea . Two of them are accepted here, viz. T. caucasica , and T stellulata . The macro‐ and micromorphological differences observed are further supported by ultrastructure of spores and crystals as seen in SEM. A description of T. microspora is included because it is repeatedly confused with T. stellulata .
