During the revision of the genus Bauhinia for Flora Malesiana three undescribed species have been discovered, Bauhinia kostermansii sp. nov. and B. steenisii sp. nov. from Borneo, and B. franckii sp. nov. from the Malay Peninsula. Bauhinia chrysophylla has turned out to be a later homonym, for which reason Bauhinia aureifolia nom. nov. is proposed. The chromosome number of this species has been counted as 2n = 26. B. fabrilis comb, et stat. nov. is proposed for Phanera riedelii var. fabrilis.
