The circumscription of Jatropha sect. Robecchiana is widened to include also the members of/, sect. Spinosa subsect. Parvifoliae. Seven species are recognized in the group that is confined to arid regions of NE and E tropical Africa. New taxa are J. rivae ssp. quercifolia, J. horizontalis, J. tenuicaulis , and J. euarguta. A new combination is J. rivae ssp. parvifolia. Two lectotypes are selected.
