(1) Through the discovery of determinable fossils in thè so‐called “Red Beds” at Lufeng, Yunnan, parts of these beds have been accurately dated. (2) The name “Shihmen Series” is proposed for the unfossiliferous capping escarpment sandstones. (3) The name “Lufeng Series” is proposed for the fossiliferous beds which lie disconformably under the Shihmen Series and unconformably above the pre‐Cambrian Metamorphic Series (in the Lufeng area)
