SUMMARY Renal failure and its effects are taught well in the medical field, however the effects upon the individual is something which is often taught but not acknowledged. This is an account of my experience of renal failure in the United Kingdom, from a doctor's perspective with the intention that my experiences may enable others to understand the psychosocial element of this life changing disease.
