Summary The developments in the field of renal replacement therapy have created a challenge for all those who are involved in the nutritional elements of patient care. We can expect to look after our patients for longer, see all ages and a full range of Coexisting morbidity. To support this there have been some advances in nutritional care, which can be offered, but for the vast majority of patients it is normal food, which provides the means to meeting these needs.
