In this session, we will address crucial steps for appropriate planning of a research project. Specific examples will be used and tips and tricks will be shared regarding: (1) the relevance of formulating a good research question and strategies to achieve it; (2) the relevance of knowing the literature and the gaps in current knowledge; (3) different types of study designs and how to choose the most appropriate to address a certain research question; (4) execution planning and stepwise approaches to ensure the feasibility of the proposed study within the available timeframe. The relevance of ethical considerations and the eventual needs for a multidisciplinary team will also be covered. At the end of this session, participants are expected to feel more comfortable with planning of their research studies.
