Summary All – authors, reviewers, editors and publishers and reader – play their role in scientific publishing. Since the peer review system still is the dominant component of scientific publishing, editor and reviewer are key players in the manuscript processing system. The role of the reviewer is well defined and critical for the selection process. She/he is committed to support the editor's decision and selection which manuscript is suitable for publication – and which is not….. Since the number of manuscript submissions continues to grow, the quality of the peer‐review process are the key to support the journal's reputation and its standing in the field.This presentation will not only focus on the role of the reviewer, but also raise the question how to become an active member of the peer‐review process.
