Purpose The authors report on a case of retinal detachment arising after treatment for ocular hypertension with pneumatic trabeculoplasty. Methods Patient male,39 years old, previous surgery with excimer laser for correcting myopia in both eyes. The patient had various treatments of pneumatic trabeculoplasty;he came two days after to our attention with the presence of retinal detachment and retinal hole in left eye. The patient underwent surgery in encircling and sealing the break with ab external technique. Results The postoperative course was smooth with reattachment of the retina and good recovery of vision in left eye. Conclusion The pneumatic trabeculoplasty is a simple and safe procedure for treatment of patients with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) or ocular hypertension (OH).Controindications are:monocular patients with <1 / 10 visual acuity in the other eye, patients with other ocular diseases or previous surgical procedures, diabetes. The results suggest that pneumatic trabeculoplasty was absolutely contraindicated in this patient.
