Seven keratoconus corneas and two normal corneas were examined in a light microscope. The histopathological changes are described with emphasis on breaklines in Bowman's layer. They seem to be a late and a secondary phenomenon. The severity of the findings are compared to the loss of visual acuity. It seems that there is no fixed correlation between the histopathological findings and the loss of visual acuity. Two of the keratocononus corneas showed the same histological changes as those found in the normal corneas.
