Chronic open angle glaucoma (COAG) is to a great extent a disease of the elderly,‐ a population often affected by other diseases reducing vision. The visual reduction in older patients affected by COAG is thus often the cause of other diseases than glaucoma. We looked at the visual function of 809 patients with COAG and tried to define the main cause of visual impairment, as well as classify visual reduction according to WHO recommendations from 1977. (fig.1). The study is also ment to serve as a referance for future evaluations of the visual function in our glaucoma patients
