. A prospective study of Pseudoexfoliation (PSX) syndrome prevalence has been evaluated in the northwest of Spain. In 850 examined patients (≥ 60 years old), PSX syndrome was found in 161 (18.9%); the frequency in those who suffered from cataract was 28.7%. Mean age in patients with PSX syndrome was 73.16 years old (70.19 in the whole of the patients examined). Bilateral PSX syndrome was observed in 73.3%. Intraocular pressure was glaucomatous in 49% of patients. The frequency of PSX syndrome increases with age; no differences have been noticed between sexes.
