The concentration of the beta‐adrenergic blocking agent metoprolol was determined in the blood plasma and aqueous humour of two groups of subjects after oral administration of the compound. One group (8 cases) had received a single divided dose of metoprolol, whilst the other group (7 cases) was receiving chronic therapy with the drug. There was a tendency towards a higher concentration of metoprolol in the aqueous humour as compared to the blood plasma in the chronic treatment group in contrast to the ‘single' dose group.
