Coeliac disease may be associated with several immunological disorders including ocular inflammation. Panuveitis with iridocyclitis, vasculitis of the retina and optic nerve head, haemorrhages into the retina and vitreous with retinal detachment, secondary retinitis pigmentosa, and keratoconjunctivitis sicca in Sjögren's syndrome may occur in association with CD. This disease was shown to have a strong association with HLA‐Dw3 and DR3 and a secondary association with HLA‐A1, B8 due to linkage disequilibrium between HLA‐Dw3 and HLA‐B8.
