In a 57‐year‐old man the traumatically disinserted inferior rectus muscle was located in the orbit with the help of EMG, and the muscle was re‐attached to the globe. Postoperatively good ocular motility and comfortable binocular vision was regained. This seems to be the first report of the use of EMG recordings for the retrieval of a lost extraocular muscle.
