The authors report the results of coagulation and fibrinolytic analysis in 23 patients with occlusion of the retinal vessels. 13 of these patients showed pathological changes such as increased platelet adhesiveness, factor V, factor VIII, inhibitors of urokinase and plasmin, or decreased fibrinolytic activity of the venous walls. It is suggested that these changes play a role in the occurrence of thrombosis. These results would seem to indicate that coagulation and fibrinolytic analysis should be made in patients with retinal occlusion.
