A 66‐year‐old man developed bilateral vitreous haemorrhage in connection with a ruptured left‐sided carotid aneurysm. The less severe haemorrhage in the left vitreous cleared in 4 weeks without sequelae, the profuse right‐sided haemorrhage not until 7 months later. The patient was left with a permanent visual impairment due to macular degenerative changes, possibly due to the breakdown products of haemoglobin (iron). Vitreous haemorrhage in subarachnoid haemorrhage must be more common than has been generally assumed.
