Cover description: A monkey Cercopithecus sp., seized at the Toulouse‐Blagnac Airport. The animal is eviscerated and opened along its spine to resemble “siamese twins” seen from the side. It was most probably going to be sold for a high price on the illegal market. This species is on the annex 1 (banned trade) of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES, 2008). Data on the international bushmeat trade are extremely scares. During this study, the author accompanied Customs offi ces at Roissy‐Charles de Gaulle airport monitoring fl ights arriving from West and Central Africa. Bushmeat seized from passengers was collected and analyzed to assess which species were being transported to Europe and evaluate any associated sanitary risks. Bushmeat seized at Toulouse‐Blagnac Airport was also included in our analyses.
