Cover description: Traditional stilt fishers of Sri Lanka. The fishers sit on a crossbar called “petta” tied to a vertical pole planted in the coral reef. The main species targeted are spotted herring ( Herklotsichthys punctatus ) and bolla ( Rastrelliger kanagurta ). Up to 1000 fish can be caught per fisher per day, with management self‐imposed by the fishers. Stilt fishing is not only a fishing method—it has become a tourist attraction.
