In 1988, the Commission on Dental Accreditation implemented outcomes assessment as an accreditation standard for all programs it accredits. This paper describes outcomes assessment for general practice residency programs and provides a basic plan suitable for adaptation to individual program goals. Examples of goals, objectives, outcome measurement Instruments, data collection, and documentation requirements are provided.
