The possible causes, effects, and treatment strategies for salivation problems in subjects with cerebral palsy are discussed. The results of clinical use of one method for drool control (the palatal training appliance) in subjects with cerebral palsy are presented. The appliance has been shown effective in approximately one third of the cases. Prognostication of the effect of the appliance does not seem possible.
