The medical and dental problems of patients with oculoauriculovertebral dysplasia (Goldenhar's syndrome) are presented. The particular dental problems of diminished or absent parotid gland secretion and hemifacial microsomia are detailed. A case is presented to demonstrate problems common to the management of these patients as well as appropriate treatment recommendations. A suggestion for an experimental, nonsurgical approach to treatment of the hemifacial microsomia is also discussed.
