This paper presents a variation of short term crisis treatment adapted to the specific needs of rural families in Northern New Hampshire. The life style and culture of the client population are seen through the eyes of a formerly “urban” therapist. The intent of the paper is to validate existing tenents of family crisis therapy with some slight modifications and emphases; suggesting that crisis intervention may well be the treatment of choice in a rural setting.
