— Chlorophyll derivatives can be oriented in a liquid crystal matrix. The temperature and angular dependence of the absorption spectra are studied with polarized light. From these results we can deduce the orientation of the molecules of dye in the liquid crystal. The deconvolution of the Soret band also allows us to assign to the different components their related transition moments.
