— The inhibition by stable radicals having the structure (X‐O) 2 NO of the initiated oxidation of ethyl benzene was studied. According to a formal kinetic scheme, verified by both theoretical computer calculations and an experimental chemiluminescence method, the rate constants of the interaction of peroxyradicals with iminoxy radicals were estimated at 60°C to be: 2.4 times 10 5 litres mol ‐1 s ‐1 for X = OCH 3 and 3.4 times 10 5 litres mol ‐1 s ‐1 for X = OCH 2 CH 3 .
