— The spectroluminescence of some new benzoheterospiropyrans has been investigated. The results are compared with the known luminescent properties of indolinospiropyrans. The phosphorescent properties are discussed in terms of intramolecular energy transfer and a correlation with colorability is suggested. The role of substituents on the chromene ring is also discussed.
