— A new measurement of the fluorescence excitation spectrum of chromatographically homogeneous quinine bisulfate has been made using a spectrometer offering high resolution and high sensitivity. Comparison of this spectrum with the absorption spectrum of the compound indicates that its quantum yield is independent of the wave number of the exciting light within ± 5 per cent for 2.57 μ ‐l v 5.0μ ‐1 .
