— Synthesis and degradation of anthocyanins in the leaves of Perilla nankinensis (S.D. plant) were studied in relation to photoperiod, light intensity and floral induction. No relation was found between anthocyanin degradation and floral induction as suggested earlier by Ermolaeva and Sironval. Discussion is opened on the significance of the observed variations of anthocyanin content in the leaves and on their relation with photosynthesis and respiration.
