SUMMARY The system consists of a modified Campbell ventilator driving a large ‘bellows in a bottle’ which connects with a large animal circle system incorporating a carbon dioxide absorber. Tidal volumes up to 14 litres can be achieved while fresh gas flow into the circle can be kept as low as 6 litres per minute.
