Summary One confirmed case and three clinically diagnosed cases of canine pneumocystis pneumonia are described I closely‐related, pedigreed Miniature Dachshunds. The main clinical sign were respiratory embarrasasment, loss of weight with out loss of appetite, normal temperature and low exercise tolerance. Two cases were fatal and post mortem findings of one revealed generalized red hepatisation in the lungs with marked interstitial pneumonitis and eosinophilic honeycombmasses of P. carinii in the alveoli. The general pathology was similar to that described for human pneumocystic pneumonia.
