Summary A series of tables have been prepared to illustrate the pattern of carcase condemnations for cattle, sheep, lamb and pigs in various parts of Australia. All the meat that is condemned is not revealed in the normal inspection statistics. The important reasons for condemnations which do not appear or may appear only in part in such returns, are discussed. The need for full‐time veterinary supervision of meat inspection throughout the Commonwealth is stressed.
