Summary The main causes for condemnation of meat in the year 1959 at the State Abattoir, Homebush, N.S.W. for cattle, pigs, sheep and calves are recorded. Diseases and conditions which are seen only occasionally have been omitted. A variable amount of the meat passed for human consumption may subsequently be condemned due to postmortem changes. This is not recorded. The incidence of certain diseases is, where possible, compared with previous records to show the position in regard to disease control. Records have been maintained of tuberculosis to show the incidence in the various lymph nodes of the body and of eye cancer to show the incidence in the various breeds of cattle.
