Summary. 1. American, Swiss, Dutch and Australian literature on the subject of swine dysentery is briefly reviewed. 2. An account is given of an outbreak in New South Wales. 3. A vibrio has been isolated from the colon of a pig which was infected with material from the outbreak. 4. Transmission experiments are described in which vibrio cultures fed to pigs produced a dysentery comparable to that produced by feeding infected large bowel. 5. It is concluded that the vibrio isolated was the cause of the outbreak and that the disease which occurred was identical with the vibrionie dysentery described by Doyle (1945).
