Glass eels and elvers collected biweekly from freshwater portions of Cooper River, South Carolina, during spring migrations (15 February‐26 April 1978) were examined for external parasites. No parasites were found on glass eels. Four species of Protozoa and one species of Monogenea were found on elvers, 62% of which harbored at least one parasite species. Management implications and potential chemical treatment for wild glass eels and elvers used in culture are discussed.
