The real cost of Artemia nauplii to the commercial fish farmer is seldom calculated with any precision, so that the price per million of living nauplii fed to the larvae shows variations by a factor up to 10, when objective comparisons are made on a scientific basis. When the results are toward the higher end of this equation, it can make substantial inroads into a company's profit. In addition, the advantages of decapsulation are either not appreciated or in many cases the process is carried out in an imprecise manner with results not properly tabulated leading to negative benefits. This paper will endeavor to set out some of the techniques required for good management and show the potential pitfalls along with the substantial financial benefits which can be obtained by application of good methodology.
